Colour and light, and a little invention, help keep traditional styles alive – or give life back to them.

One of my tricks (this week, anyway) is to confound expectations around oven towers. At first glance, the doors over the ovens don’t make sense – unless you’re designing not as a row of cabinets, but as a block, with 900s over 600s over – in this instance, down where you can’t see them – 900 drawers with 450s either side. Largely for the fun of it.
